Ms. Homayoun, Kindergarten teacher
Shohreh Homayoun has been teaching for 18 years, with the past five years at Brent. She holds a B.A. in early childhood education and recently earned her master’s degree in educational transformation from George Mason University. She lived in Iran, England and France before moving to the United States in 1982. She loves architecture, music, ceramics and anything to do with culture and the arts, and was attracted to Brent’s museum program. “I love teaching through the arts and sciences, and I like perfecting my teaching with every year I teach,” she says. “I believe that children are true artists and their natural curiosity about everything around them also makes them natural scientists.” Last year, Ms. Homayoun’s kindergarten students wrote a play that was performed at the Kennedy Center, and she and Ms. Copeland directed Brent’s first school-wide play, Alice in Wonderland
